4 Pain Clinic.

I have now been at the pain clinic at the University Hospital.
They always talk big words, but i wonder if they will do anything.
They are more interested in being a good coworker than putting the patients first.
They said they now would like me to try cognitive therapy, and hypnosis, and would call my psychiatric nurse, but they haven't. I would be surprised if they had.
Second they said my family doctor should sent me on a second opinion to Haukeland hospital in Bergen.
But again, my family doctor hasn't gotten the summary, or gotten a hold of the doctor, so then she does nothing!
Third, my family doctor wants the pain clinic to assign every aspects of my treatment from them,But they don't see why they should, they think my doctor

2 0-1 for ME

If I have ever said there there are more people in the health care system who cares more about power, money, basically their own career more then the patients..
I have to many times told them that what I really mean of them, and if I don't like you, you would now it. But thats a part of being sick, you're filter is gone, you have become this essence in a shall that is filled with "cancerous" cells..

0 Finally a break

Today I had two uplifting things happening to me. First I had a friend come visiting, and the hours flew by. And it was mice to talk about other things then just illness, and dreadful memories. However it was an uplifting visit, and I felt so much better afterwards..

The other good news was that I am taking a new manometry on Monday.. The Norwegian health care system is known for dragging things out. I sent in an application to this other hospital in march and I have still not heard anything, but this shows that they can if they want to. So one and a half week after my appointment with the pain clinic, and I will have my first manometry in over  a year..
I am rely existed, petrified, and a little angry that I have fought  this for 10 months..
All I can say to the Norwegian health care system, get a grip, take responsibility when you screw up.

Us patients we now that doctors are human to, but they have to come down from that high horse and apologizes. Most of us would forgive and be glad that they stood for the mistake that they had made..
So happy weekend to u all :) :9 I had a great start to mine :):)

2 Let me tell you...

I have the last couple of days told you about what I think is wrong with being sick in Norway, and I still think that many things need to change.
But and there is a big but. I am lucky that I do live in Norway, because if I lived in many other countries I would be paying of my medical bills until I died, and still I would probably just have pain of half.
And my parents would have sold their house, and everything else that they own, because of hospital bills.

I cant even start to imagine how much it would cost to be admitted for 6 months, 2 surgeries, 3 weeks in the intensive care unit, probably 15 x- rays everything from CT, MRI and barium tests, 6 gastroscopy, 3 manometry, and blood samples.
I would probably faint if I started to put all the numbers together.
So I wont.
I guess that is the problem with humans, we will always want what we don't have.
And when we get it, it wasn't what we hoped.
But I will never stop trying even if I don't get what I want, maybe I will get what I dreamed of.. I hope so

6 To be sick... continues!

I can just start of where I ended last night.
Now the problem is the pharmacies and there views about paragraphs.
I went to my doctor to get my prescription for Durogesic (pain patch). And my doctor did write it. The only problem is that you have to use the sheets for A-prescriptions and not the ones for blue.( A- prescriptions are for drugs, B for addictive ones and C for the rest. Blue prescriptions are the ones that the government pay for, and they are for medication you have to use for more than three months).
The pharmacist actually thought it was a good idea for me to travel up to my doctor again to get a new one!

Is that what the world has come to? Don't anyone believe that when you say that you are sick, that you are?
I don't use this sort of medication for the fun of it. I am not going to write "most of us anyway".
I know what it is like when people don't belive you.
One of my doctors he belived that I had anxiety, and nothing wrong with my esophagus. Then I had the manometry, and my spasms pressed the manometry catheter out again. My doctors jaw dropped, and that was the end of that discussion.

I do get that sick leaves are increasing and that we in the west today take more pain pills than in other parts of the world. I am not the one to point a finger, I am the last one who should point.
I take pills for headache, menstrual pain, fever, you name it. And when I take it for the smallest pain, I will have to get more when I am in big pain.
And what I should have done was, take a nap, go for a walk and check my temperature, and if it gets to high, call my doctor.
So when, and I do have to say when for my own sanity, I am going to try and listen to my body, and not the pace of the society!
So there I was at the pharmacy, and i started to cry, yes I was frustrated, and tired. One of other pharmacist came over and said that he could give me the medications on the prescription that I had brought.
Why couldn't they have done that to begin with? When they knew that they could???

4 Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)!

As I have written before my journey started with me getting Gastroesophageal reflux disease. (GERD)
I had gotten it because I had taken Votaren over to many years.First my doctor put me on Zantac(active substances: Ranitidin), but it didn't have any effect and on this point I had lost 8 kilo.
I got a gastroscopy and they could see that I had GERD. They put me on Somac (active substances: Pantoprazol) at first, but it had no effect so I switch over to Nexium (active substances: Esomeprazole) and i took 40 mg x 2 at night. It had some effect, but I had to stay on a strict diet for it to work.

So then I had a esophageal ph monitoring, which showed that I had GERD, and a manometry, who showed that I had inflammation in the esophagus, and that i would be a good candidate for the nissen fundoplication.
I was very happy to get rid of the proton pump inhibitors , and the strict diet, and on November the 9 i walked into the hospital, not knowing that what I was about to go through, would be far worse than what I had already been through. Sometimes the medication is the lesses evil!
